"For all the serious wine collectors and drinkers, it's hard to say a wine is underrated at 93 points, but that's the case here. The crispness, which I would pair with sushi, is so sharp it reminds me of a razor blade. I was humbled by this wine." |
93 Pts James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com |
"Way more closed than the other 2015s from Tesch, but that's normal for this site with "red slate" soil (actually a very fine-grained ancient sandstone). Very little fruit; instead it's all herbs and minerals. Medium-bodied, but with the sleek, toned body of long-distance runner; great ageing potential!" |
92+ Pts Stephan Reinhardt - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate |
"Subtle, pure and flinty on the nose, the 2015 Laubenheimer Karthäuser Riesling Trocken intertwines ripe, but very precise and fresh white fruit aromas with a spicy flavor. On the palate, this is a very intense but also racy, vital, firm and salty Riesling. It has remarkable elegance and complexity. It is quite powerful and has a very good potential to age. Keep this wine for at least another four years. The Karthäuser is the southwest-facing vineyard above the village of Laubenheim. Shaped like an amphitheater and based on weathered sandstone (Rotliegend), this is a warm location that ensures an early ripening of the grapes. This terroir leads to ripe and spicy, pretty powerful, but firmly structured and elegant Rieslings that can age tremendously well." |
