"This has a real brilliance and fruitiness to it with ripe plum and chocolate character throughout. Full body, soft and velvety tannins and a clean, bright finish. So drinkable now but a long life ahead of it." |
92 Pts Antonio Galloni - Vinous |
"The 2012 Barolo Bricat is bright and nicely focused, with beams of supporting acidity that give the wine its freshness and verve. Sweet floral and minty notes open into red plum, cedar, tobacco and leather. Finely cut and yet also quite giving, the 2012 is a wine that speaks to balance above all else." |
Description:
Manzone's high-elevation vineyards and their extreme steepness foster naturally low-yielding vines which produce wines that are approachable while young, yet remain amongst the most concentrated and longest-lived of all Barolos. Principles of natural, non-invasive agriculture are followed in the vineyards: no insecticides or fertilizers have ever been used. Minimal amounts of SO2 are added and all the wines are unclarified and unfiltered. Of the 3 Barolos, Bricat should be tasted 2nd.
Traditional-style Barolo, fermented using natural yeasts with long skin contact. Ageing is carried out in botti and tonneaux (500lt and 700lt in size) for 36 months.
Ruby red with garnet notes, Bricat offers bright aromas of small red berries, walnut and chocolate. A graceful Barolo, yet there is still plenty of underlying tannin in the background. Pair it with braised beef, roasts, truffle dishes and seasoned cheeses." - Importer
