"The Le Paradou label is a joint venture between the Ventoux's Chateau Pesquie Chaudiere family and importer Eric Solomon. The 2016 Vin de France, which has already been bottled, is 100% Grenache and comes from vines in the Ventoux and the Roussillon's Agly Valley. It was brought up all in concrete tank. Deep ruby colored, with awesome notes of garrigue, pepper, kirsch and dark fruits, this beauty hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, no hard edges and a great finish. It sells for a song and way over-delivers." |
Description:
The Paradou vineyards are all slightly elevated on rather poor soils in order to obtain the freshest and most drinkable wines possible. The aspect of the vineyards is sheltered and none face fully south. The Viognier vineyard is situated North-East of Montpellier, between Nîmes and Uzès, at the foot of the Massif des Cévennes, on fairly poor chalky limestone soils at an average altitude of 150 to 200m which gives a slight mineral taste to the wine. The Grenache and Cinsault are situated much further West, North of Narbonne, in the Minervois, at an average altitude of 250m on richer limestone and clay soils (pebbly terraces which were deposited during the substantial floods of the Quaternary Period) which makes for powerfully structured but very balanced wines." - Importer
