Description:
Wine:
"The Nativ Greco di Tufo has the characteristic pale color with gold reflections and opens with a rich and powerfully aromatic nose of apricot, peach and citrus. On the palate it is full bodied, soft and well balanced with excellent acidity and minerality. It is ideal as an aperitif with hors dâoeuvres, shellfish, lobster, all types of seafood, chicken dishes and cold meat.
Along with Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo is arguably the regionâs most prestigious white wine. Greco vines are believed to have been introduced to Campania by the Greeks (hence its name). The name Tufo instead refers to one of the villages from which the wine comes, but also the type of tufa-rich volcanic and clay soils which give Greco di Tufo its typical minerality." - Importer
Winery:
"Nativ was founded in 2008 by Mario Ercolino, renowned winemaker for some ot the top estates in Campania and Italy, and his wife Roberta Pirone. The brand name âNativâ and their wines aim at the best possible representation of the local wines and varietals grown on approximately 15 hectare of estate-owned vineyards located in Irpinia, near Paternopoli and Taurasi, an area famous for fertile soils of volcanic origin, rich in minerals, calcium carbonate and ash, the latter caused by the volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius, which struck Pompeii in 79 AD. These constituents are concentrated in the grapes, resulting in features of uniqueness and distinctiveness in the wines.
The line includes all of the traditional wines from the region and two beautiful cru bottlings that received near-perfect scores from renowned Italian critic Luca Maroni. A fantastic new addition to the growing Montcalm portfolio." - Importer
