"The 2013 Red is bold and pungent to the core. Black cherry, mocha, black olives, spices, lavender and sage hit the palate in the 2013. This is an especially serious, structured wine for the money. The blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 20% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot. The Franc is felt in the wine's savory, expressive personality. This is a delicious wine for the money." |
Description:
The notes on the Pairing from vintage to vintage are starting to sound like a broken record.
A good broken record.
It goes without saying that our biggest demand year after year circles around value based Cabernet from California. While much of the pricing in Napa has gradually increased in recent years, wine shoppers have started to look in surrounding areas for top value ... and many outstanding producers are waiting.
Perhaps none more exciting than the Paring, a winery with Matt Dees at the helm and the team behind Jonata, The Hilt and the cult classic Screaming Eagle. However, in this case, we are not talking about a wine with a price point in the $100 range ... rather ... $22.99.
Bottom line ... this is one of the star producers in all of California ... at a price that is hard to beat. Discover it today ... before the secret is out for good!
The Paring has an extraordinary pedigree. Made from the vineyard blocks that are either too young or donât fit into the vintage style of the highly acclaimed Jonata winesâThe Paring is essentially a "chip off the old block". Sourced primarily from a region on the vanguardâBallard Canyon in the Santa Ynez region. The Paring bottlings explore different blending opportunitiesâfrom the rule-bending Paring White to the wide-ranging Cabernet of winemaker Matt Dees.
The Paring makes its own rules. Vineyard experimentation is key; select vineyard sites are explored, and farmed to our rigorous standards. If and when they show us what weâre looking for, we bottle them. The Paring bottlings explore different styles and vineyardsâfrom the dual stylistic expressions of Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay to the meticulously farmed Pinot Noir from a selection of distinctive Santa Barbara sites.
