"Pale to medium ruby-purple colored, the 2011 Moutere Pinot Noir offers tons of kirsch, pomegranate and mulberry notes with underlying lavender and cinnamon stick hints plus a waft of tree bark. It bursts in the mouth with red fruit and earthy flavors, sporting a solid structure of firm grainy tannins and lively acid, finishing with great length." |
Description:
"Pinot Noir is such a food lovers wineâ¦it just loves earthy, meaty flavours but it is also an excellent partner to more robust vegetarian food. Neudorf Pinot Noir is often seen to be on the European edge of the New Zealand spectrum. With its silken texture and pure minerality it reflects the ancient clay gravels of the Moutere Hills, with complex, earthy, sur bois characters acting counterpoint to the wild cherry and blackberry fruits.
Neudorf Pinot Noir is produced from older vines planted in the late 1970s, plus fruit from more recent Dijon selections planted in the 1990s
Vintage 2011 has produced a classic Moutere Pinot Noir, rich and textural. Natural Yeast. 100% barrel maturation. Muscular and textured, with fine tannins and taut acidity supporting a sweet fruit core.
Neudorf Pinot Noirs are built to age. Tim feels it has to do with the tension generated from our clay gravel soils and cool sunny climate." - Winery
