"It worries me when a wine of this provenance is offered for $20 by the winery, especially when I can't see anything lacking. The colour is good (not great, but that can't be the reason), the bouquet attractive, the palate likewise, and if you take them in quick succession you might think there's a nice amount of French oak (but not so much that it is upsetting), the palate medium-bodied and the tannins fine (they don't have to be jagged or splintery). So, I'm left none the wiser, and must commend the wine for its great value." |

"Checked the website for a bottle image, and it says 'sold out'. Pretty sure it was only sent a little while ago. Anyway, should you find some floating about... Has a little lemon and leafy fragrance, dark fruit, touch of charry oak and choc-mint. Medium bodied, youthful with refined black fruit and some 'mineral' character, medium strength tannin, even acidity and a good finish. Quite bouncy in feel. Good to drink. Speaks of region and variety, quietly and confidently." |

"I like Mt Barker Cabernet. Often more structural and entertaining than Shiraz, though can be a bit minty. This is a pretty classic example too. A flick of mint and just a little vegetation over archetypal blackcurrant. Palate is quite juicy after the nose. Sweet cocoa powder oak and some dark bitter tannins. Really quite substantial, gritty coffee ground tannins a highlight, finishing sweetly full." |

"Inky ruby. Potent scents of dark berries, cherry pit and minerals, with notes of licorice and candied flowers gaining strength with aeration. Lively, sharply focused blackberry and cherry-cola flavors are underscored by zesty minerals and a hint of bitter chocolate. The youthfully tannic finish nicely plays sweetness off minerality and lingers with good persistence. " |
Description:
"The mild conditions of '11 were helped by both sunshine and moisture at the right times. A longer ripening period resulted in more structure to the wine. The was put to oak for malolactic fermentation, then transferred to a combination of new and one year old French oak for 20 months. It was fermented at around 77 degrees Fahrenheit for seven days until it was pressed off skins in a membrane press. Pressings were returned to the free run juice and the wine had no fining or partial filtration prior to bottling.
