"The 2004 Guidaccio has acquired lovely complexity in bottle. Scents of tobacco, licorice and grilled herbs lead to juicy cherries as this soft, forward red opens up in the glass. Floral notes add freshness on the high-toned finish. Once again, in 2004 Guidaccio is very representative of the qualities of the vintage in the way it emphasizes elegance and finesse over heft.

These are the first wines have I tasted from Marchesi Torrigiani, and I must say I am deeply impressed, particularly by the Guidaccio, a blend of 60% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in French oak barrels." (08/10)

"The Torrigiani family entered into the “wine world” in the year 1280 when their ancestor, Ciardo Torrigiani, joined the Vintner’s Guild in Florence and opened up a shop selling wine. He began a business that extended throughout Italy, into Europe, and is now worldwide.

The estate is located close to Barberino Val d’Elsa and covers a large area of the Florentine hills, or ‘Colli Fiorentini.’ There are 30 hectares of vineyards on the property. In recent years, the vineyards have been replanted with typical grape varieties such as Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot." - Importer
