The second email will confirm that we have enough wine to fill your order. We're sorry for any inconvenience and will do what we can to fill your order!

Thanks to your feedback we might bring back some of Cinderella Wine's popular previous offers. If a wine makes another appearance here, this newer offer will always be slightly higher than the original one. Offers that are on the site on Friday through Sunday will be shipped on Monday.

87 Pts Josh Raynolds - Vinous Media

"Bright ruby. Pungent aromas of dark berries and cherry pit, with a hint of dark chocolate. Wound up tight, reluctantly offering up dense blackberry and cassis flavors and a bitter chocolate note. A tough read, but there's good concentration and depth. These are reportedly old vines, some planted more than a century ago on slate and granitic soil." (12/10)

87 Pts Jeb Dunnuck - The Rhone Report

"The 2009 Espelt Garnacha Emporda is 100% Garnacha, from sandy soils and vines planted in 1920, that’s aged for 3 months in new French oak. Taking some time to flesh out, this starts out muted, but opens slightly to show moderately intense black cherry, black olive, herb, and earth aromas on the nose. This improves with air and is medium bodied on the palate, with quality, ripe fruit, a smooth, balanced texture, and good length on the finish. Overall, this is a solid red that shows good character and should drink well for 2-4 years." (03/11)

Description:

"100% Garnacha. Sustainable with organic and biodynamic practices and it's undergoing EcoCert certification for 2013. The soils are slate and granite and the vines were planted in 1920. After fermentation, this wine spends 3 months in new French oak. The wine is medium bodied, with ripe berry and spice notes, finishing with slightly chalky tannins." -Importer

WINERY:
"Although the Espelt family has been growing grapes for quite some time, it was not until 2000 that they began to produce their own wine. With over 500 acres of vineyards planted to a multitude of varieties, Espelt's ultra modern winery is responsible for some of the greatest values in the region with a whimsical sensibility."

"The property is located in the Northeast of Spain close to the Mediterranean sea and the Pyrenees mountains, an area with low rainfall and healthy cool winds from the north. It has very old vineyards planted on two National Parks on slate and granite soils. The road to the famed restaurant, El Bulli runs through the Espelt vineyard." -Importer

EMPORDA D.O.:
"This D.O. [is located] in the extreme northeast corner of Spanish Cataluna separated from Roussillon only by the French border. The zone has a long history of wine production, which was nearly extinct when phylloxera swept through the vineyards in the 1900s...Garnatxa, the Catalan name for the Grenache grape...and Carignan still account for 80 percent of production." -Jancis Robinson, Oxford Companion to Wine

This wine was scored 87 points by Josh Raynolds of the International Wine Cellar.
