Description:

2006 Darviot Perrin Chassagne Montrachet Blanchots Dessus :
"Ripe, featuring pineapple, apricot and quince paste aromas and flavors, turning rich and expansive midpalate. Pulls itself together nicely by the finish, with honey and citrus notes and fresh acidity. Drink now through 2012. 30 cases imported." 90 Points - Wine Spectator

"Somewhat surprisingly, this is primary, indeed backward to the point of still displaying noticeable fermentation aromas that presently dominate the nose and it's clear that this needs a good racking. The rich, full and powerful flavors however possess excellent concentration and ample dry extract on the enveloping and tautly muscled finish. This doesn't have the finesse of the range of top Meursault 1ers but it is well balanced and impressively long. Drink 2012+" (Tasted 7/01/08) 89-92 Points - Allen Meadows - Burghound

VINTAGE NOTES:
"Didier Darviot reported that he "began the harvest on September 23rd with the whites as maturities were climbing very fast. We waited a few days before attacking the reds as I wanted to be sure that we had adequate phenolic ripeness. There was some rot and a thorough triage was very important, particularly because there was some interior rot as well and thus you had to be very careful as it was hard to spot. I did a slightly lighter vinification, in particular with fewer punch downs but otherwise, I have treated the wines the same as always. The reds will be bottled in March or April, probably without fining or filtration." -Winemaker

DOMAINE:
"The domaine is located in Monthelie, where Didier and Genevieve Darviot maintain an impeccable and extremely cold cellar. While vineyards and viticulture have been a primary focus of their families for generations, it was not until 1989 that this estate produced its first wines under the Darviot-Perrin label. Working with ideally situated vineyards with an average vine age in excess of 50 years, Didier’s first priority is producing small yields of pristine fruit with a determined non-interventionist strategy."

"Once in the cellar, the wines evolve at a glacial pace, with typically long malos and minimal batonnage or rackings. Usually wines emerge from the cellar a full year after most other producers have released a given vintage. The resulting wines are tightly-coiled, energetic and expressive of their privileged terroirs, and while charming and lively from the start will also reward long keeping in a cool cellar. These are reference-point wines that perfectly exemplify why Burgundian wine from prime terroirs is a treasure." -Importer

2009 Pavelot Savigny Les Beaune :
"This is also aromatically quite pretty with ripe red berry and plum aromas liberally laced with ample amounts of Savigny-style earth that continues onto the round, supple and appealing flavors that culminate in a balanced and naturally sweet finish. Lovely and fashioned in Pavelot's usual understated style." 87-90 Points - Allen meadows - Burghound

DOMAINE:
"PAVELOT-TI : I stayed up very late one night to watch the admirable concert after the last match of the World Cup. The world's three greatest tenors and a marvelous cocktail of serious and light music including a rendition of "My Way" sung to a pleased but puzzled looking Frank Sinatra. I have always thought of Jean Marc Pavelot's Savignys in musical terms. (In private we often refer to Pavelot, Bachelet, Mugnier, de Montille as our tenors. )."

"There is a fine purity here, a freshness, a grapiness that is rare to sustain year after year. The 2000s are simply delicious, open and ingenuous enough to make Cousin George give up beer for life. The Savigny Villages is exceptional for the price." -Importer
