Description:
2007 Flora Springs Trilogy:
"The 2007 Trilogy might be called a Napa version of St.-Emilion blended with a Margaux. A harmonious blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot, it offers undeniable elegance as well as lovely black currant and black cherry notes intermixed with hints of cocoa, roasted herbs, cedar, and licorice. This textured, lush, medium to full-bodied, beautifully constructed 2007 can be drunk now or cellared for 15-20 years." 93 Points - Robert Parker
"Made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, this is a good, smooth wine that shows its Napa origins in the ripeness of fruit and classy tannins. Floods the mouth with blackberries and oak. Thereâs a certain sharpness that cuts through the richness and lasts through the finish, which may limit ageability, so drink soon." 91 Points - Wine Enthusiast
"Bright ruby-red. Complex nose melds cassis, blackberry, bitter chocolate, cedar, menthol and licorice, with tobacco, loam and leathery nuances emerging with air. Sweet, pliant and expressive, with a bit more stuffing to buffer its firm acidity than the basic Napa Valley cabernet. Finishes nicely broad, with a fine dusting of sweet tannins and subtle leather and game notes. Based on this wine and the 2006 Trilogy, as well as the winery's other very successful '07 cabernets, the 2007 vintage marks a breakthrough to higher quality here." 91 Points - Stephen Tanzer - International
WINE:
"Perched on the bench of the Mayacamas in the farthest northwest corner of the Rutherford appellation, the location of the Flora Springs Estate is enviable. In 1984, we set out to make the best wine possible by hand-selecting the highest quality lots from our estate vineyards. Using a blend of Bordeaux varietals, we created Trilogy, one of the original Meritage wines. Now a Napa Valley benchmark, Trilogy represents meticulous sustainable and organic farming practices, along with the evolution of a wine style created by the Komes and Garvey families. Over twenty years of Trilogy later, the goal remains the same to handcraft the finest wine possible from the Flora Springs Estate." -Winery
2005 Fontes Da Cunha Dao Munda Red:
"Distinctively rich and full-flavored, with plenty of acidity to back it all up. Red plum, mineral and raspberry are accented by Asian spice and dark chocolate notes. Finishes with licorice and cream. Touriga Nacional. Best from 2010 through 2013. 300 cases made. -KM" 91 Points - Wine Spectator
WINE:
"The elegance and the complexity of the Munda 05, make it excellent with meat, game and cream cheese. Best served at 16C. As with any high-quality wine from the Dao region, Munda 05 has a long life expectancy in the bottle (10 - 15 yrs)."
"The aroma is very fine and complex, very attractive with violet flowers, fresh berries and chocolate. In tasting it shows a complex aroma with flavors of ripe blackberries and plums, violets and bergamot flowers, chocolate, coffee and spices. These flavors and aroma are completed be a careful maturation in oak wood, which enriches this aromatic mix. This wine is a very well structured, elegant and complex wine with delights and conquers the taster." -Winemaker
VITCULTURE & VINIFICATION:
"The grapes, hand-picked at the ideal maturation point, underwent stalk removal and soft crushing. The fermentation took place at small stainless steel vats for 8 days at an average temperature of 25-28C with pumping over for soft bouquet and skin extraction. Munda matured for about 18 months in new French oak casks. The final blend was prepared carefully after numerous tastings and analysis, and was lightly filtered before bottling." -Winemaker
