"Top wine from this smaller estate. It's incredibly stylish, even as young as it is now. A lighter body featuring more liquid and less plum pudding should mean that it will be an easy drinker come maturity. With pure fruit, spice and lots of coffee already poking through, it has a fine future. Drink after 2010." -91 Points - Wine Enthusiast

WINE:
"Quinta de Roriz was the first Douro vineyard to produce and sell wines under its own name. Over 180 years ago, Roriz had already gaines international recognition for the quality of its wines. In 1828, Roriz Ports were already fetching the highest prices at London auctions."

"Situated in the heart of the finest vineyard area, Roriz is amongst the most beautiful properties in the Douro. The wine produced on the Quinta reflects the unique soil composition and is made in the traditional stone Lagares. All the wine produced on the Quinta is of outstanding quality, however, less than one-fourth, the very best, is selected to be bottled as Quinta de Roriz Vintage Port." -Winery

WINERY:
"Douro valley is, without doubt, one of the most distinctive terroirs in the history of world viticulture. Great wines can only exist if there are people fortunate enough to appreciate them. There can be no doubt that the English aristocracy played an important role in the development of the Port wine vineyards, just as they did in Bordeaux, most notably with the Médoc Crus Classés."

"The Douro wines, cultivated in an inhospitable climate under a scorching sun, with their low acidity and high residual sugar levels, were always difficult to transport. It was for this reason that the region invented fortification, a process which involves adding brandy to the wine before fermentation is complete, providing the Port with its distinctive alcohol-sugar balance, together with a remarkable potential for ageing. In addition, the process requires the rapid and energetic extraction of tannins by the traditional method of treading or, in more recent years, using mechanical presses." -Winery
