93 Pts Wine Spectator

"Very rich and focused, with a powerful slate-accented aroma and concentrated flavors of ripe peach, baked apple, mineral and spice. The long finish is filled with notes of golden raisin and cream. Drink now through 2015. Tasted twice, with consistent notes." -93 Points Wine Spectator

"Medium green-yellow. Smoky flint, subtle peach and apricot aromas are joined by yellow apple and a hint of clove. Refreshing, vibrant acidity highlights tropical fruit flavors reminiscent of lichee and passion fruit. This persistent wine already offers drinking pleasure. Drink now to 2017." -90 Points Peter Moser, International Wine Cellar

History: "As the son in a winemaking family, Fred Loimer Jr. realised very early on that he would take the same path in the future. He attended the Weinbauschule Klosterneuburg , Austria´s renowned wine-growing school, and later gained important experience at the Weincastel Schilling winery in the Nahe region of Germany and at the Schug Winery in Napa Valley, California. When he returned to Langenlois, he utilised his newly gained experience – something that didn´t always please his father." -Winery

Vineyard: "Langenlois lies in the center of several formations from the various geological stages of the earth´s development. The subsurface is comprised of crystalline rock (predominantly gneiss and mica schist) of the Böhmische Masse, or Bohemian Massif. While this primary rock disappears in the southern and eastern parts of the area, there are many other places where it is exposed. Over the rocks lie sediments deposited in the form of clay, sand and marl - residues of the Tertiary Sea. When the sea had eventually retreated, it left behind a river - today it is known as the Danube." -Winery

Wine-making Philosophy: "Sustainability without sacrifice – one doesn´t have to give up or do without something in order to live and to work sustainably. This is the philosophy that Fred Loimer lives by. He is a happy up-beat person who enjoys life, who´s hungry for life, and is always keen to learn. He also is extremely concerned about quality, and he doesn´t leave anything to chance. And all of this is reflected in his wines." -Winery

This wine also scored 89 points in The Wine Advocate.
