89 Pts Antonio Galloni - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"I can't imagine readers will find too many better and more delicious wines for the money than the 2007 Rosso Conero Fructus. This silky-textured offering caresses the palate with layers of perfumed fruit that come together with unusual precision and grace. Everything is simply in the right place in this engaging red from the Marche. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2012." - 89 Points - Antonio Galloni - Wine Advocate

WINE:
"The Leopardi Ditajuti family can trace their ancestry to the 3rd century AD. Conte Piervittorio Leopardi has quietly been making some of the best wines in the Marche. Their little wines represent some of the best values in the Italian market. "
"Fructus is an easy-drinking Montepulciano that beautifully balances bright, fresh fruit with surprisingly well-defined structure. This balance allows it to pair well with a diversity of foods at the table. We call it the perfect all-purpose red — grilled chicken sandwiches, pizza, salmon, etc." -Importer

"The fruit is hand-picked at full-maturity, de-stemmed and soft- pressed. The must is then fermented with selected yeasts at a controlled temperature and given12-15 days of maceration. The wine is then aged in used barrique for two months, and then in stainless steel for seven. After bottling, the wine is held for a period of time before release."
"The addition of the wood is done for two purposes: 1. Where no flavor is imparted to the wine the texture is changed 2. There is a greater exchange of oxygen in the barrels which helps prevent the wine from being reduced, which is very important as the grape is prone to reduction. Micro-oxgenation is employed while the wine is in tank." -Winemaker

"This elegant and refreshing red wine is a specialty of the Marches region, a beautifully hilly district along the East coast of central Italy, and is made with 100% Montepulciano grapes. Our aim is to bring out the deep cherry and blueberry aromas that are typical of this great varietal. Enjoy it with any type of meat dish.." -Winery
