Description:

2005 CHATEAU LA CLEMENCE:
"Proprietor Christian Dauriac's tiny 7.5 acre Pomerol estate is planted with 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. These wines have had a tendency to be overwhelmingly extracted and high in tannin as well as oak, but the outstanding 2005, while clearly from the modern school of winemaking, possesses a well-integrated wood component. Dense purple-colored, it offers scents of espresso, chocolate, blackberries, and kirsch along with a hint of caramelized fruit, medium to full body, abundant amounts of sweet tannin, and a muscular, concentrated, powerful finish. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2030." -92 points Robert Parker

"Mineral, leather and berry aromas lead to a full body, with round tannins and a long finish. Chewy. A big wine. Best after 2012." -91 points Wine Spectator

"Moderately saturated ruby-red. High-toned aromas of black cherry, violet, licorice and menthol, plus a whiff of smoked meat. Pliant, nicely delineated flavors of black cherry and spices offer an insidious sweetness. Finishes firmly tannic and persistent, with lovely violety lift. The best young vintage I've tasted to date from this chateau." -89-92 points- Stephen Tanzer- International Wine Cellar

WINE:
"This vineyard is 3 hectares and the grapes are grown under supervised control, with low yields. They are hand-harvested with manual sorting of berries. Plots selection with 6 appropriate thermo-regulated wooden tanks. Aging occurs in new barrels. The wine has a deep dark colour with purple hints, nose of fresh fruits and roasted, soft and well-rounded in the mouth with velvety and deep tannins. Long and complete finish." -Winery

WINERY:
"Wine is a Dauriac family tradition. The Château Destieux was bought by Mrs Dauriac, Christian Dauriac’s mother, the current vineyards owner. Christian Dauriac, with a double degree in medical biology and oenology has always tried to combine his two passions in life; wine and biology. Following his friend Michel Rolland's expert advice, he expanded the family vineyard by buying the Château Montlisse in 1984, Grand Cru in Saint Emilion, raising the standard within the wine market...In 1996, Christian Dauriac purchases the Château La Clémence. Top-tier wine produced in a limited quantity of about 500 to 600 cases per year. The Château La Clémence has already begun making a name for itself and on several occasions, its quality has been recognized by professionals." -Winery

2006 HUERTA DE ALBALA TABERNER #1:
"The 2006 Taberner No. 1 is a blend of 80% Syrah with the balance Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot aged for 14 months in new French oak. It displays an already complex aromatic array of sandalwood, pencil lead, smoked meat, Asian spices, blueberry, and blackberry. Dense and layered on the palate, this rich, intensely flavored wine is all about pleasure. It has enough stuffing to evolve for 2-3 years and will be in its prime from 2012 to 2021." -92 points- Jay Miller- Wine Advocate

WINE:
"The grapes are harvested in August. Grapes are hand picked and carefully selected from the best parcels in the vineyard and are bought to our gravitationally fed winery in small baskets. The grapes then go through a two stage table selection. Fermentation takes place in 5000 litre wooden fermentation vats with manual cap punch downs every two hours for 15 days. This is followed by a malolactic fermentation in barrique. The wine is then matured for 14 months in new barriques with racking taking place every three months."

"Dark purple, complex on the nose displaying aromas of mature fruit, plums, figs, aromatic herbs and cedar wood. Extremely rich and flavoursome in the mouth, with lively acidity, noble tannins and an almost unctuous texture culminating in a long and persistent finish." -Winery

VINEYARDS:
"Our 225,000 vines are distributed as follows: 60% Syrah, 20% Merlot, 10%Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Tintilla de Rota. The vines grow at elevations that range from 100-250m above sea level. The wide variety of soils and privileged location within a special micro-climate, generated by the proximity of the reservoir of Bornos and the mountain range of Grazalema, combine to produce grapes with excellent technical characteristics, ideal for making wines with marked individuality and personality. The diverse soils give a unique character to a number of different grape varietals and areas within the vineyard. Each parcel is therefore separately planted, controlled, analysed, vinified and aged before a final decision is made on the final blend." -Winery
