Description:
2004 VITANZA BRUNELLO DI MONTACINO:
"This is impressive for the vintage, with loads of crushed berries and spices, as well as hints of leather and flowers. Full-bodied, with soft and silky tannins and a long finish of sweet fruit. Rich and exciting. Better than the 2001. Best after 2010. 8,000 cases made." -94 points Wine Spectator
"Tenuta Vitanza is a tiny world of its own that revolves within the tiny world of Montalcino. The winery is located at the furthest extreme of the winemaking zone and its owner, Guido Andretta is a wonderfully bi-cultural Italian-American. His wines are always delicious and 2004 is particularly so: Itâs fresh and plump with enormous depth of fruit, spice and licorice aromas." -92 points Wine Enthusiast
VINIFICATION:
"The vineyards are 11 years old. The grapes are pre-soaked in a cold temperature for three days, with pump-overs following the density and the temperature under computer control. The wine is aged for 3 years, in France tonneaux for 30% and 70% in large Slavonia barrels. This is released after 5 years from the harvest, in April." -Winery
WINE:
"The color is deep red ruby and the bouquet is intense and complete, with ethereal aroma of woods where was aged. This wine is full-bodied, tannic, smooth and powerful with strong and precise character." -Winery
WINERY:
"The story of Tenuta Vitanza begun in 1994 when Rosalba Vitanza and her soon to be husband Guido Andretta went for a romantic week-end in Montalcino in province of Siena. They were guest of a friend, now a fellow producer, that told them he was trying to sell the original property in Montalcino to buy a bigger place also in the area. In 1994, they decided to buy this first property, Podere Renaione, a country house built before 1600, together with 4 acres of vineyards, olive trees and fruit trees with the idea of doing some wine for them and their friends. Rosalba took full responsibility of the estate and started to getting into winemaking with the help of a Famous consultant enologist of Siena." -Winery
This wine scored 88 points by Antonio Galloni of the Wine Advocate.
2007 CARPINETA FONTALPINO DO UT DES:
"Very ripe and intense on the nose, with prune, licorice, blackberry and flowers. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a long, powerful finish that offers lots of toasty oak and ripe fruit. A full-throttle style. Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best after 2012. 1,650 cases made." -94 points Wine Spectator
WINE:
"It has a color deep ruby, very intense, with persistent delicate perfumes and of ample space. Full-bodied...mature fruit (blackberries, blueberries, plums) and sweet spicies (vanilla, cinnamon and walnuts), chocolate and spices...accompanied to toasted signs (Dutch cocoa, coffee, caramel), to licorice, violet and tobacco." -Winery
WINERY:
"Carpineta Fontalpino has been in Cresti's family since the 1960s. Gioia, 39, took over the estate with her brother, Filippo, 45, in 1990 and immediately set about replanting 44 acres of vineyards. She is currently producing some of the most exciting wines in Tuscany...Cresti is also busy with her work as a consulting agronomist. She collaborates with Carlo Ferrini, one of Tuscany's best-known consulting enologists, at well-known estates such as Casanova di Neri, Petrolo and Sette Ponti, while also consulting for a half-dozen estates on her own." -Wine Spectator article from October 2008 'Special Report: The Best of Italy: 10 Italian Wineries to Watch.'
2006 CHATEAU SANSONNET LA RESERVE:
"This is the first vintage in which renowned winemaker Stephane Derenoncourt had total control of the production of the winery. If you thought previous vintages were great, you are in for a serious ride with the 2006. His influence is undeniable for it's elegance, power, balance and complexity, while still maintaining it's St. Emilion roots. 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc. I was lucky enough to blend this with Stephan and the effort is easily one of the best of all the La Reserves, this is a must own." -94 points Gary Vaynerchuk

WINERY:
"Chateau Sansonnet is located at the east of Saint-Emilion, on the highest point of the plateau, neighbouring great classified wines. Rich of history, the property belonged in the 19th century to the Duke Decazes, Prime Minister of Louis XVIII. The d'Aulan family took it over in 1999. The exceptional terroir is composed of an argilo-limestone soil, on a rocky subsoil. Merlot and Cabernet complement each other beautifully to give elegant, attractive and classy wines. The 7 hectares vineyard and the wine cellars have been restored. Forgotten for a moment, Sansonnet takes again today its legitimate place among the high-class wines of Saint-Emilion." -Winery
