Description:
2005 LE MACCHIOLE PALEO ROSSO:
"The 2005 Paleo (Cabernet Franc) is impressive. Wild herbs, roasted coffee beans, new leather, minerals and dark fruit emerge from this long, refined wine. Although the intensity tapers off slightly on the mid-palate, this is an absolutely gorgeous wine loaded with style and personality. Still tightly wound, it needs further bottle age to reach its peak. It is arguably the most successful of the estate's 2005s. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2017." -93 points- Antonio Galloni- Wine Advocate
"Decadent aromas of berries, meat and earth follow through to a full body, with velvety, rich tannins, a long, flavorful finish and a coconut and berry aftertaste. Impressive. Cabernet Franc. Best after 2011. 2,000 cases made." -93 Points Wine Spectator
2001 TENUTA OLIVETO RISERVA BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO:
"The 2001 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva from Tenuta Oliveto is a big, brooding wine loaded with tar, scorched earth, smoke, menthol, dark fruit and generous toasted oak. This medium-bodied effort offers outstanding length although it could use a little more polish on the finish. The awkward metallic notes present in the regular bottling are found here as well, although they are less prominent. Made in a fleshy, round style, this is an undeniably pleasing Brunello, even if it is not the last word on subtlety. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2017." -90 points- Antonio Galloni- Wine Advocate
This wine scored 88 points from the Wine Spectator.
2006 RED HEAD'S STUDIO ESULE:
"55% cabernet sauvignon and 45% cabernet franc. Deep, bright red. Spicy red- and blackcurrants, cherry and rose on the nose, with a subtle undercurrent of minerals adding vivacity. Taut, sharply focused red berry aromas are firmed by fine-grained tannins and given bite by cracked pepper. Finishes with gentle lift to its pure, clinging red frut flavors. Plenty of $200 Bordeaux would kill for this wine's fruit, and its restraint and balance will surprise those who have written off all Australian wines as organ grinders playing only in the muddy key of Mollydooker." -92 points- Josh Raynolds- International Wine Cellar
"Polished, velvety and generous with its black cherry, blueberry, smoke and roasted meat flavors, persisting right through the supple finish. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2010 through 2016. 800 cases made." -91 points Wine Spectator
This wine also scored 91 points by Jay Miller of the Wine Advocate, but no tasting notes were given.
2005 PUECH HAUT CLOS DU PIC:
"Brooding and mysterious, this is a serious wine that deserves a serious steak to go with it. Dark and ripe with dominant notes of black licorice followed by black berries, plum, milk chocolate and thyme. Full and rich in the mouth with a long finish that evolves from fruit to spice and finally ends on a delicious mocha note." -90 points Wine Enthusiast
2006 TUCK'S RIDGE BUCKLE PINOT NOIR:
"Exceptional colour; a very powerful wine, with as much drive and velocity as any Central Otago pinot; satsuma plum and black cherry; very fine tannins run through the palate giving great structure; will be long-lived." -96 points- James Halliday- Wine Pros
2006 MOORILLA RIESLING:
"Pale straw. Stony citrus and quince aromas convey impressive clarity and thrust. Piercing lime and orchard fruit flavors are filled in and deep, with a tangy mineral bite on the long finish." -90 points- Josh Raynolds- International Wine Cellar
This scored 89 points in both the Wine Spectator and the Wine Advocate by Jay Miller.
