94 Pts Wine Spectator

"This is impressive for the vintage, with loads of crushed berries and spices, as well as hints of leather and flowers. Full-bodied, with soft and silky tannins and a long finish of sweet fruit. Rich and exciting. Better than the 2001. Best after 2010. 8,000 cases made." -94 points Wine Spectator

"Tenuta Vitanza is a tiny world of its own that revolves within the tiny world of Montalcino. The winery is located at the furthest extreme of the winemaking zone and its owner, Guido Andretta is a wonderfully bi-cultural Italian-American. His wines are always delicious and 2004 is particularly so: It’s fresh and plump with enormous depth of fruit, spice and licorice aromas." -92 points Wine Enthusiast

VINIFICATION:
"The vineyards are 11 years old. The grapes are pre-soaked in a cold temperature for three days, with pump-overs following the density and the temperature under computer control. The wine is aged for 3 years, in France tonneaux for 30% and 70% in large Slavonia barrels. This is released after 5 years from the harvest, in April." -Winery

WINE:
"The color is deep red ruby and the bouquet is intense and complete, with ethereal aroma of woods where was aged. This wine is full-bodied, tannic, smooth and powerful with strong and precise character." -Winery

WINERY:
"The story of Tenuta Vitanza begun in 1994 when Rosalba Vitanza and her soon to be husband Guido Andretta went for a romantic week-end in Montalcino in province of Siena. They were guest of a friend, now a fellow producer, that told them he was trying to sell the original property in Montalcino to buy a bigger place also in the area. In 1994, they decided to buy this first property, Podere Renaione, a country house built before 1600, together with 4 acres of vineyards, olive trees and fruit trees with the idea of doing some wine for them and their friends. Rosalba took full responsibility of the estate and started to getting into winemaking with the help of a Famous consultant enologist of Siena." -Winery

This wine scored 88 points by Antonio Galloni of the Wine Advocate.
