Cinderella Wine says: Product Details:
Please note, orders are processed on a first come basis. If you leave the wine in your cart for even a few minutes it might have already sold out as our stock quantity is removed when you submit the order in final, not when you add it to your cart!

You will get two emails from us with regards to your order. The first email from us only confirms that we received your order. The second email will confirm that we have enough wine to fill your order. Due to the high volume of sales there are times when the wine has sold out, but our system is still updating and shows it as available. We're sorry for any inconvenience and will do what we can to fill your order!

Thanks to your feedback we might bring back some of Cinderella Wine's popular previous offers. If a wine makes another appearance here, this newer offer will always be slightly higher than the original one. Offers that are on the site on Friday through Sunday will be shipped on Monday.

Best Price on Web is determined by Wine-Searcher Pro prices as of yesterday: Wine Library is selling this for $29.98 and we're the best price on the web. There are 4 other stores selling this from $29.99 to $38.99.

Free Shipping on orders of 3 bottles or more!

Please Note it may take 24-48 hours for your order to be put together for store pickup. You'll get an email when it's ready for pick up.

90 Pts David Schildknecht - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"While the label 2005 Carinyana 1878 might seem self-explanatory outside of the improbable world of Domaine Puig-Parahy, here I suppose it is worth noting that 1878 is the year in which the parcel of Carignan in question was planted, which incidentally signaled the estate's post-phylloxera revival. Mulberry, iodine, wood smoke, and toasted walnut migrate from the nose to a palate of dense concentration and remarkable brightness, but with no pretensions of polish. This is a bit like Carignan in the role of Barbera. Bitter notes of herb and scrub as well of wet stone add interest to a long and stimulating finish. I could imagine this keeping for years, but have not yet had an opportunity to test that hypothesis against any older vintages."

"Georges Puig's estate ten hilly miles southeast of Perpignan is like a time capsule, filled with ancient documents, ancient paraphernalia, and most importantly ancient fortified wines- some in bottle, most still in tanks and casks. Ranks of long-since abandoned terraces receding toward the Pyrenees testify to a time when the world had an enormous appetite for this area's oxidized Grenache-based wines, and if you taste through a significant subset of the 46 extant vintages in Puig's cellar, you begin to understand why. But, first things first: while Puig doesn’t appear to take them (let alone price them!) all that seriously, his dry red wines- grown on a mixture of chalk-clay and schist- offer exceptional value. Even here, Puig's approach is out-of-time. I was surprised to be offered as current in December three of the same 2005 vintage wines I had reviewed for issue 178, and to be able to taste the successor vintages of only a single cuvee." -90 points- David Schildknecht- Wine Advocate

WINE:
"The Carignan plants were brought back from the United States by my great-great grandfather, just after the 1875 phylloxera. My great grandmother remembered because he had brought back these vine plants together with a beautiful porcelain doll for her. The soils are chalky clay and the vineyard is 15 hectares. Vinification is traditional, with one month maceration, devatting, and pressing. Aging occurs in brick and cement vats." -Winery

WINERY:
"The land is situated in the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains, very close to the Spanish border and has both the heat of the southern summer and the cold of the mountain winter. It also lies close enough to the Mediterranean to be influenced by the ocean winds...The vineyard is large and impressive with very diverse terrains. The 110 hectares of planted land has many old vines including parcels of Carignan known from records to be over 130 years old."-Winery
