Description:

2001 SOLARIA BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 123:
"The estate's top bottling the 2001 Brunello di Montalcino 123 is made in a similarly large-scaled, super-ripe style. It presents generous amounts of sweet fruit, chocolate and toasted oak sensations with outstanding concentration and length on the palate. Though not especially typical of Sangiovese it offers lovely overall balance as well as harmony with a lingering note of sweetness on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019." -91 points- Antonio Galloni- Wine Advocate

WINERY
"Solaria is an artisan winery located on a natural plateau on the southeast side of Montalcino run by the extremely passionate and driven Patrizia Cencioni. Patrizia Cencioni does not spend her time behind a desk; instead she sits enthusiastically behind the wheel of her tractor, painstakingly tends to her vines by hand and takes on wholeheartedly the tasks of the cellar and every other step involved in the production of her wines. Inheriting the estate formerly called Cencioni e Pallari in 1989, Patrizia employed tremendous entrepreneurial skill to create Solaria. Producing just four wines - Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino, the single vineyard Brunello di Montalcino 123 and the IGT Solarianne - Patrizia focuses all her attention on quality. The resulting wines speak for themselves and for this special place." -Importer

WINE
"Harvest starts from late September to early October. The wine is fermented for 3 weeks in temperature controlled stainless steel. The wine is aged for 36 months in large Slovenian oak casks and 6 months in the bottle. The Brunello is a deep ruby red color. It is silky and ripe with aromas of plums, blackberries and light vanilla with fresh acidity and balance and a long, elegant finish." -Importer

2006 DESANTE CABERNET SAUVIGNON:
"What's so delightful about this Cabernet is that it shows classic Oakville structure in a wine that's immediately drinkable. While it will take bottle age, it's elegant and enjoyable now, with refined tannins and a brisk hit of acidity framing dry flavors of blackberries and black currants that close an earthy hint of mint and herbs. A worthy followup to the '05." -91 points Wine Enthusiast

WINE:
"This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon shows the classic ruby/garnet hue. The aromas are inviting with the darker notes of ripe cherry and chocolate getting a pleasing lift from a presence of red currant. This lift is what one would expect from the western bench Cabernet that composes 45% of the blend. The western bench shows through again with the bright cherry flavors and elegant expression of tannin in this seamless wine."

"The addition of Cabernet from the eastern hills brings forth the deeper notes of blackberry and cedar while providing the textural curves and softened edges that one would expect from a Cabernet Sauvignon that has the potential to reward cellaring for the 6-8 year term. The house style is supple tannin and a balanced expression of the appellation and this wine delivers fruit to complete the package." -Winery
