90 Pts Jay Miller - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate |
"The 2004 Reserva is composed of 95% Tempranillo and 5% Graciano sourced from 50+-year-old vines. It was aged in French and American oak, some of it new. Purple-colored, the wine has an excellent perfume of toasty oak, pencil lead, mineral, and blackberry. This is followed by a medium to full-bodied, firm wine with enough structure to permit 3-4 years of further evolution. It is nicely balanced by a broad band of ripe, spicy fruit leading to a 30-second finish. Drink this well-made Rioja from 2012-2025." -90 points- Jay Miller- Wine Advocate |
Description:
WINE:
"After being handpicked at the vineyards, the grapes of the eldest vines are sorted out in a manual sorting table and taking advantage of a 34 meter slope, a very meticulous winemaking process helped by gravity gets started. Our wines get their refined character from the aging in fine grain oak barrels, being the barrels carefully selected and constantly renewed."
"Personality and structure of Izadi wines are determined by the terroir. The dryness of the land and the water directly influences the flavor of the grapes. Izadi means nature. It is located at the foot of the Cantabria Mountain range in the municipality of Villabuena. Our winery is gifted with 187 hectares of old vineyards facing southwards. Exceptional soil and a privileged micro-climate, in one of the most privileged areas of D.O. Rioja Alavesa."
"Izadi was born to the thanks of a familiar passion of the gastronomy and the efforts of a group of enthusiasts dedicated to wine. Izadi produces wine in over 100 plots of old vineyards not in average exceeding one hectare, all together there are 187 hectares of old vines." -Winery
