90 Pts Jay Miller - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate |
"The flagship Maduresa comes from the estate's oldest and lowest yielding vines with a focus on Mando, a nearly extinct indigenous varietal being resurrected by Celler del Roure. The wine is a blend of Mando, Monastrell, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot aged for 12 months in French oak. Opaque purple-colored, the nose is Bordeaux-like with vanilla spice, black currants, and blueberry with a hint of pepper in the background. On the palate the wine is elegantly-styled with attractive black fruit flavors, a firm structure, and a slightly hard finish. If this wine evolves over the next few years, my score may appear stingy." -90 points- Jay Miller- Wine Advocate |
Description:
A Cellar Tracker favorite! This wine has an median score of 90 points from 10 different reviewers in 12 notes!
WINE:
"Made in the DO of Valencia which is in Southern Spain. The average age of the vines are 20 years old. The soils are based on clay/limestone where the Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet, and Petit Verdot are planted. Mando and Monastrell are planted on sandy soils giving the wine more elegance. The vineyards are planted between 500-600 meters in altitude. The aging of the wine is made in new French oak barrels for 10-12 months." -Importer
WINERY:
"Celler del Roure was created in 1995 as a family estate by Pablo Calatayud. Based in the village of Moixent, the property is committed to nurturing and championing the wines and indigenous varietals of the region, most notably the Mando grape. The estate owns three different blocks of vines on the northern slope of the Serra Grossa at 550 meters above sea level." -Importer
