"The five hectares vineyard of Le Clos du Chateau sits in front of the Chateau de Puligny and is entirely enclosed by walls (a true clos). Remarkably situated on the border of Puligny vineyards, this terroir has been managed by De Montille since 2002 and was eventually purchased by the domaine in 2012.
Certified organic, practicing biodynamic. As there are no neighbors and the vineyard is completely enclosed, it is the ideal site for farming biodynamically since outside chemicals and sprays will not inflitrate the vineyard. It is for this reason that the Clos de Chateau is home to all of De Montille's biodynamic trials and experiments.
The terroir shows in this Bourgogne Blanc which over-delivers for the appellation.
Domaine de Montille is among Burgundy's most iconic estates, with a long and fabled history dating back to 1730âs. While the de Montille name is certainly synonymous with the village of Volnay where the family house still sits, the original historic estate consisted of 25 hectares spread throughout the Côte dâOr, including parcels in the famed Grand Crus of Le Musigny and Les Bonnes Mares." - Importer
