The Apriori winery is making world class Pinot that stacks right up with the $120 Red Burgundies from France, and this This Pinot Noir is one of their top bottlings.
Hicks Family Vineyard is located in the Santa Cruz Mountains in a cooler climate which makes for a lush, balanced, and complex Pino Noir. This is an insanely small production not only because the vineyard is so small, but it is the process of hand picking every grape that goes into this wine to make sure nothing but the best is used.
2016 was a good year for Pinot Noir in California, especially in the cooler climates. You will get the rich fruit notes of cherry, rhubarb, and raspberry rounded out with the unique terroir of Hicks Family Vineyard. The wine does spend time in neutral oak, there is no influence on the palate, but it allowed to wine to really settle in.
This is an awesome little wine from a spectacular producer and vineyard!
