"The 2017 Cotes du Rhone Villages is fresh and inviting with bright aromatics of cherries and raspberries which are followed by nuances of spices, white pepper and hints of wet stones all taking shape in the glass. Medium-bodied and beautifully balanced with a core of juicy ripe fruits framed by lovely acidity leading up to the mouth watering finish. While this is drinking well in its youth it should also evolve nicely over the next year or two." |
Description:
This outstanding appellation in the Rhone valley delivers fresh, ready to drink wines while some of the top estates in the region also deliver wines that will benefit from some short term cellaring. This wine is perfectly situated between the two.
Grenache is king here, and this wine is made up of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah. For many, this will drink more like a Chateauneuf du Pape! It's got the freshness and absolute drinkability you would expect from many of the wines from this region, but also the complexity and structure that shows it will age gracefully as well.
Either way, these are great wines to stock up and buy 6 or 12 bottles of when you can find the right deal! In this case, it's a wine that will come in handy for just about any occasion!
