"Red Mareâs delicious 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon displays elegance and freshness, notes of spicy oak intermixed with black and red currants, licorice and a touch of graphite. It is a blend of 85.6% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petite Sirah and the rest Malbec and Petit Verdot. At this price point, it is certainly an attractive value for a Napa Valley Cab. Moreover, it should continue to drink well for another 15 or so years."

"Our Red Mare Cabernet Sauvignon is always appreciated for its balance. We strive to make a wine that is measured, elegant, respectful of place a time. But what does that really mean? It means that we might harvest a touch earlier than some, it means that we might make financially painful decisions at blending time in pursuit of that balance, it means that we look for the character of each site and each vintage to shine above our desire to make the wine taste a certain way. As a result of that, our wines are always expressive, are known for their supple silky tannins and with the natural acidity retained from our winemaking style, they age beautifully.

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is classic Red Mare. As the driest year in California History to date we were lucky temperatures were relatively mild during the growing season. Harvest got off to a bang with the 6.0 magnitude earthquake on August 24th reminding us to count our blessings and tie down our barrels. The dry temperate conditions are evident in the glass with nicely ripe red fruit with hints of blackberry on the nose supported by the warmth of cedar, cocoa and sweet vanilla. Lovely drive and forward movement in the mouth is punctuated by mature lush tannins and concentration of black fruit lending richness and length to the generous finish." - Winery
