"The 2012 Viñas Viejas de Paniza is produced with the fruit from their older Garnacha vineyards on slate soils at high altitude, around 800 meters and aged for six months in barrel. The wine is quite dark, ripe and brooding, with tantalizing aromas of wet earth, graphite and blackberries making for a quite attractive nose that's different to other wines from the region. It reminds me perhaps of a Priorat. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with fine-grained, earthy tannins and good freshness and depth. Quite impressive, and very good value. 100,000 bottles produced."

Description:

"Made with vines of up to 100 years old that come from the highest areas around Paniza, in the shire of Cariñena. After crushing and de stemming, the grapes ferment for 15 days at controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks with several daily rankings. After the descoliation and subsequent malolactic fermentation, the coupage is carried out and the wine is passed into the barrel for 6 months. Subsequently the wine is bottled and remains our silent underground cellar.

Its aroma invokes raspberry and cherry red , accompanied by subtle memories of mocha and vanilla. All these combinations of aromas bring the wine of an unparalleled wealth and complexity." - Winery
