94 Pts Wine Enthusiast

This lush, voluptuous and tenderly textured wine is still grippy in its youth. Dark cherry, cranberry and pomegranate round out the layers of juicy fruit, buoyed by rocky minerality, measured oak and firm tannins. Medium bodied, it can be enjoyed with or without a meal.

93 Pts Connoisseurs Guide to Wine

The two very fine versions of Patz & Hall Pinot head in slightly different directions, and picking a favorite is a difficult task. This one from the Russian River Valley teams the juicy, keenly cherry-like fruit for which the appellation is known with a judicious measure of supportive oak and, even though marked by ready ripeness throughout, it is never less than bright and buoyant and its focus on deep and very pure Pinot fruit is as constant as constant can be.

This 7-acre vineyard is planted in Goldridge soils on the far western edge of the Russian River Valley in the Green Valley AVA. Dijon clones. Wild and cultured yeast fermentations, 15% whole cluster, 100% malolactic fermentation in barrel, aged in 70% new French oak barrels, bottled without fining or filtration. · Moderate reddish purple color in the glass. Deep aromas of black cherry and dark berries with a hint of forest floor and oak. Plenty to like in this beautifully composed wine, awash in tasty blackberry and pomegranate goodness framed by balanced fruit tannins. Deft integration of oak, and a joyous finish filled with succulent fruit. Everything is in place to age beautifully. The best wine I have tasted from this vineyard. Score: 93. 92 Pts Antonio Galloni - Vinous

Pure aromas of cherry, dark berries, mulled spices and rooty underbrush. Fat, thick and sweet but suave, showing sexy, savory soil tones and a rather opulent texture. Finishes with sweet, fine-grained tannins and sneaky length.

"This stunning wine delivers everything we love about this vineyard: it’s bursting with bright red fruit, has big, age-worthy tannins and abundant natural acidity. Vibrant red cherry and raspberry notes carry through from the nose to the palate, where they mingle with enticing layers of lavender, orange blossom, dusty forest floor and spice. There is also a lovely savory underpinning, with leesy, nutty notes adding nuance to the lush cherry pie flavors." - Winery
