"Complex aromas of dried figs, dark fruits and hints of walnuts and dried meat. Full body, dense and polished palate. Velvety and poised tannins and a flavorful finish. Yet always refined and beautiful. You want to drink it now and can, but it has a beautiful future."
"In 1968, when Brunello di Montalcino was first given DOC status, Livio Sassetti was one of 11 producers to sign the charter. In 1980, he was there again as one of a total of 53 producers to witness Brunello di Montalcino become the first DOCG in all of Italy. Today, with over 200 producers making Brunello, Pertimali continues to be a shining and singular example of traditional, time-honored winemaking. The estate has farmed organically since the 1980s and ages their wines exclusively in giant,
old oak casks. In 2007, a 5-star vintage, Lorenzo Sassetti decided to experiment with a single large barrel Brunello. He left the wine in cask for 10 full years - for lovers of ageworthy, old-school Brunello, this is not a wine to miss. Additionally, Pertimali has been making outstanding Sangiovese-based wines in the Montecucco region, plus remarkably good Prosecchi and Chardonnay from the Valdobbiadene." -Importer
