91 Pts Neal Martin - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The 2009 Spiga is again, pure Tinta del Pais fermented in oak and stainless steel and raised for 12 months in 90% French and 10% European barrels. It is endowed with a powerful, burly bouquet with forward cranberry, raspberry and pomegranate notes that are very well-defined. The palate is full-bodied and a little unruly on the entry. The tannins and thick and gripping at first, although they are singing from the same hymn sheet as the fruit and the finish has a sense of linearity and focus. Excellent. Drink 2013-2020. "
"Spiga, our second wine, is aged approximately 12 months in oak barrels (new and first use barrels) and six to 12 months in the bottle.
Bodegas y Viñedos O. Fournier will not bring these wines to the market under the "Crianza", "Reserva" and "Gran Reserva" denominations in order to provide maximum flexibility and thus focusing exclusively on the quality of the wines.
From marketing perspective, the Company´s objective is to promote the O. Fournier "umbrella brand" as a top quality brand, regardless of where the wine is produced. It will use separate brands and labels for each of the wines depending on the region." - Winery
