93 Pts Wine Spectator

Fresh, elegant and detailed, this red offers cherry, strawberry, floral, licorice, tar and tobacco aromas and flavors. It firms up on the long finish, remaining fresh and complex.

93 Pts James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com

Wow. This shows such a wonderful, complex fruit character of dried berries, lemon rind and ash. Some cloves, too. Full body with silky tannins and a fruity finish.

92+ Pts Monica Larner - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Shows an impressive level of fruit boldness and extraction. Although the style is plush and -modern- on the Barolo continuum, Tortoniano is a seamless expression with supple tannins and fresh acidity that meld into one beautiful whole.

Description:

"Tortoniano is named for the tortonian-era soils in which the vines are planted, which contain a high percentage of magnesium and manganese. Grape clusters are thinned and are harvested somewhat later than usual so that the fruit attains higher concentration. Temperatures are strictly controlled during vinification and the wine is aged for two years in large oak casks and one year in bottle before release.

The wine shows layered aromas of mint, fennel, plum and spices before rich red currant flavors, with rose petal and more mint notes. On the palate the acidity is balanced and the tannins are silky, leading to a long finish." - Importer
