"The 2012 Bourgogne Vezelay Elegante comes from stony soils and is raised in used oak. The nose is a touch more introverted compared to the Impatiente, but with modest aeration it reveals iodine and licorice scents. The palate is medium-bodied with fine mineralite, a keen line of acidity and a taut, stony finish. This is well-crafted. Drink now-2018." Reviewed June 2014 |

About the Winery:
Domaine La Croix Montjoie was established in 2009. Named after the cross located at the crossroads of Vézelay and Tharoiseau - which marks a monumental contemplation point in the pilgrimage to Vézelay - the ten acres of estate vineyards are located in the municipality of Tharoiseau and the property is the old castle farm in this village. The view of the Vezelay Basilica (where the rib bone of Mary Magdalene is interned) and the foothills of the Morvan is breathtaking.
The vineyard consists of 10 acres of Chardonnay. South-Eastern exposure enables perfect ripening of the grapes. The vines grow on stony clay-limestone soil in which there are fossils that hail from the Gryphées mollusks. This region experiences severe winters, hot summer days and cool breezy nights. The wind blows hard on the hill and rainfall is evenly distributed over the year.
Domaine La Croix Montjoie was founded on a common will to embark on a wine adventure. In 2009 the project became reality through a mix of family, friends, challenges, passions, and dreams. - Distributor
