94 Pts James Halliday - Australian Wine Companion

"Hand-picked and whole bunch-pressed, the wild yeast fermentation in French oak followed by nine months maturation with lees stirring, but no mlf. The wine is particularly intense, with very good structure and texture to its mix of white peach, almond and citrus flavours running through the long palate."

94 Pts Huon Hooke - www.huonhooke.com

"Medium straw-yellow hue. Restrained, reserved aroma, very youthful, bright and clean. The palate is loaded with citrusy flavours and bright acidity, lemon and grapefruit, mouthwatering and crisp. A wine of great energy. Lovely. " Reviewed 1/30/2014

92+ Pts Campbell Mattinson - The Wine Front

"This Xanadu Chardonnay picked up a gold medal at the 2013 Sydney Royal Wine Show. And it's carrying a fair clip of oak. I'm not saying the two are related.

But you do have to be oak tolerant to enjoy this. The oak gives the wine a clear impression of sweetness. It otherwise tastes of peach, citrus and grapefruit and together with the oak I'd say that all these flavours are well integrated. The finish is steely, like gunmetal, verging on minerally without ever quite tipping over. It needs a year or two for the fruit to shine up through the wine but even so, now, it's hard to deny its quality." Reviewed 10/29/2013

About the Winery:
"Situated only four kilometres from the town centre of Margaret River and an equal distance from the magnificent coastline, Xanadu is a true pioneer of the region with a long history of producing wines with distinct character that embody all that is the Margaret River.

"Xanadu was established by Dr John Lagan, an Irishman, who arrived in Margaret River in 1968 and was inspired by the pioneering spirit of the region. At the time, the potential of Margaret River as one of the world’s finest wine-producing regions was only just being considered. So less than a decade on, Dr Lagan with his wife Eithne established one of the region’s earlier vineyards, planting his first vines in 1977.

"Lovers of literature will remember Xanadu as Samuel Coleridge's mysterious, idyllic, exotic city; home of Kubla Khan. Dr Lagan, himself a great literature enthusiast, drew parallels between Coleridge's visions of utopia and his newly adopted home, and thus the name Xanadu was born.

"True to its poetic namesake, Xanadu is in an idyllic setting where the now 65 hectares of vines on the original estate flourish in the rich, free draining gravel soils of the Margaret River region. In this unique maritime climate enjoys an abundant supply of water and is sheltered by forests of magnificent marri trees." - Winery Notes
