94 Pts PinotFile
"Medium reddish-purple color in the glass. Lovely, fresh and vibrant aromas of cherry, red raspberry, cherry tart and Christmas spice opening nicely over time in the glass. Round and polished, elegant and restrained, featuring flavors of red berries and cherries and a hint of Moroccan spice and sous bois. Soft, but evident tannins, and nicely integrated acidity. The finish is highly satisfying offering a flourish of spicy cherry fruit. Extraordinary the following day from a previously opened and re-corked bottle. A dancing Pinot that is a fabulous food magnet."
90 Pts Wine Spectator
"Velvety, vibrant and expressive, with red berry and hints of cinnamon and grilled meat on a light frame, melding together smoothly and into the long, vivid finish. Drink now through 2018. 455 cases made."
"A dancing Pinot that is a fabulous food magnet." - 94 Pts Pinotfile
5 quick points about this incredible Pinot Noir:
--- The list price here is $45. Our price, just $34.99. On top of that, Burgundy buyers ... this is like buying a $50-$80 quality Red Burgundy .... for just over $30. We were flat out blown away!
--- Earned raves from both the Wine Spectator and Pinotfile plus, it's ready to drink right now or will hold in the cellar.
--- Close neighbors include Shea and Willakenzie while Beaux Freres is just a few miles south.
--- Ultra limited production. You won't find this bottle in many shops.
--- We know it is early, but imagine having this on hand to serve not only this summer ... but all holiday long. This is the perfect food pairing Pinot Noir! As the Pinotfile mentions "A dancing Pinot that is a fabulous food magnet."
We went all the way to Oregon to find this. The #1 wine from the trip. Period.
Earlier this year, we traveled to Oregon in search of Pinot Noir. We had a packed schedule of appointments and had a list a mile long of properties we wanted to visit. One of those properties was Lenne, a small estate making hand crafted, estate grown Pinot Noir near Yamhill.
Ironically, Lenne was one property where we just couldn't make the time work. We were only in Oregon for a couple of days and we were unable to stop in, but after some back and forth e-mail and phone calls, we were able to taste some of the wines .... and we were flat out floored.
After doing a little more research, we discovered we were not the only ones who were excited. Both the Wine Spectator and Pinotfile have been raving about this property as well and while the production numbers are ultra small, it seems more and more Pinot Noir fans have started to discover what we now know. Lenne is making some of the most amazing Pinot Noir in all of Oregon.
5 Things every Pinot Noir lover should know about this offer:
1 - The property: As the Pinotfile mentiones, "The site is on low vigor sedimentary and volcanic soils and has many famous neighboring estates such as WillaKenzie, Shea Wine Cellars & Vineyard, Solena, Soter and Beaux Freres." It's all about location ... and this producer has that covered.
2 - The production: Only 455 cases of this wine were produced. That's it! This is not a wine that will not be available in many places. In fact, only a few stores in the country have carried this producer in the past as the wines are hard to come by!
3 - The ratings: Both the Wine Spectator and Pinotfile have raved over this winery and this particular vintage of this wine. After you taste it for the first time, you will see why!
4 - The price: The original list price on this wine was $45. Our price is $34.99!
5 - The wine: We loved this. This medium bodied Pinot Noir is exactly what we look for from Oregon. This 21 acre vineyard is located in the heart of the Yamhill-Carlton District in Oregon. Perfect elevation, orientation and soil type.
"This wine is the ultimate expression of the terroir of Lenne, representing the best barrels from each harvest, This 20-acre Pinot Noir vineyard sits on a steep, south-facing slope just east of the town of Yamhill. The shallow soil, dense spacing and diverse clones move us towards our goal of creating profound wine in the vineyard. Minimal handling and the use of gravity ensure that the wine is a direct expression of the terroir of Lenne."
